Dear Friends,

I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well, happy, and safe during these trying times. My name is Sarah and I work for My Dog Is My Home, a national nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to expanding access to shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness with their companion animals. Our systems changing work includes an annual conference that your network in Maine might be interested in. Thus, we are reaching out to formally invite the Maine Statewide Continuum of Care to attend our Second Annual Co-Sheltering Conference, which will be held virtually on March 1-3, 2022.

At the conference, we will educate, entertain, and engage as we pursue equitable access to home for all people with animals in our respective communities around the globe. You’ll hear from government leaders and experts across human service and animal welfare disciplines on topics related to our theme, “Stronger Together: Building Allyship Between Movements.” You may find our complete conference schedule here. Some of our exciting speakers include: Julián Castro – the 16th Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Kwane Stewart of “The Street Vet” television series, Sterling Davis of TrapKing Humane, Vickie Ramirez of the University of Washington’s Center for One Health Research, tribal liaison Marilou Chanrasmi, Dorothy Edwards of the Corporation for Supportive Housing, Dr. Daniel Brisson of the University of Denver’s Center on Housing and Homelessness, and many more on our site and to be announced. You’ll also be able to enjoy curated storytelling segments, opportunities for interaction, and many giveaways.

As the foundation of co-sheltering is inclusivity, My Dog Is My Home’s conference welcomes participants of all backgrounds.  If anyone is interested in attending, you may find more information on our website and registration page.  We have many conference scholarships and student rates available.  Most of the sessions will be recorded and we will email the viewing links to all who register about one month after the conference.

We’d be honored to have your support for this one-of-a-kind event. Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions. It’d be wonderful if you could share with people throughout Maine who may be interested as well.

Warm regards,

Sarah
